United National Movement (UNM) leader Nika Melia told party supporters and reporters outside the Central Election Commission (CEC) that the overnight meeting between UNM leaders with CEC chairperson Tamar Zhvania was "fruitless" and declared the opposition party would convene for internal consultations over the coming days to decide on further steps in its protest.
Melia and UNM leaders Giga Bokeria and Davit Bakradze were received by Zhvania after party supporters and members arrived outside the CEC headquarters in Tbilisi to voice their protest of the election results announced by the Commission.

Head of Georgia's Central Election Commission (CEC) Tamar Zhvania has met opposition party United National Movement (UNM) leaders Giga Bokeria, Davit Bakradze and Nika Melia at the CEC headquarters in capital Tbilisi with police lined up outside.
Police were mobilised at the CEC building after UNM leader Nika Melia called party supporters to gather outside the building at 3am to "defend their votes”.
Party leaders also told reporters they were unhappy with figures released following an exit poll carried out by TNS Global and commissioned by Imedi TV, Maestro, GDS and Georgia’s Public Broadcaster (GPB).
The exit poll put UNM behind the Georgian Dream party by 34 percent of votes.
We won this election, no doubts,” underlined Nika Melia at the rally at the CEC building.
UNM leaders Melia and Bokeria addressed the party's supporters to "defend their votes”.
One of the demands of protesters was a meeting with the CEC chairperson.
