For businesses to be more successful they need to invest in advertising, and the advertising market needs to increase so Georgia can be more productive, believes Economy Minister Dimitry Kumsishvili.
Kumsishvili was one of the guests who attended the marketing forum No-standard and Innovative Trends in Marketing and Packaging in Tbilisi, which served to raise awareness of the importance of marketing and advertising Georgia-made products.
This Forum is very important as everyone knows only innovative approaches create added value in our country. Marketing is a direction that drives the market and makes people want to spend money on products they need or want,” said Kumsishvili.
The Georgian high official said the country’s advertisement market was quiet small, reaching only $60 million USD.
This forum’s goal should be to grow the advertising market with new products, new knowledge and experience.”

He urged forum guests to think about creative ways to market their products better; possibly by packaging products differently and introducing them to new markets. This would increase productivity and bring greater benefits to the company and the country.
Kumsishvili said the Government supported the development of creative industry and through various actions, businesses were more aware of the importance of marketing and advertising.
We have sent groups representing four different creative avenues to the Young Lions Festival, where Georgia won the marketing award. Today Georgians are people who can make complex decisions in marketing,” said Kumsishvili.
At the forum Kumsishvili spoke briefly about the recent economic developments and noted 2016 was the first election year in Georgia when the economy was growing instead of reducing.
2016 is the first election year when in the first two quarters, the number of Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) increased and there was employment growth. The private sector employed 32,000 more people in the second quarter of 2016 compared to the same period of 2015 … and the role of marketing managers in these achievements is huge,” he added.
