Late yesterday Russian occupant forces kidnapped two Georgian citizens from a village under Georgia control that’s located near the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL) separating western de facto Abkhazia region from the rest of Georgia.

The men, Levan Morgoshia and Pridon Matkava, were residents of Rukhi village in Georgia’s western Zugdidi municipality, and were detained when they went swimming and fishing in the river. They were detained by the border guards for "illegal crossing of the border.”

Locals of Rukhi village said the two men would most likely have been taken to a detention facility in Abkhazia’s central Gali area.

Georgia’s State Security Service said the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM), the only mission operating near Georgia’s two occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) has been informed of the kidnapping.
