Tbilisi City Hall said part of the works involved "completely rehabilitating” two old gondolas. These gondolas were now able to carry about 20 people, including people in wheelchairs and with other disabilities.
Officials believed the new cableway would be able to transport about 2,000 people per day.
About 1,100,000 GEL (about $468,691/€419,861*) was allocated from the Tbilisi City Hall budget to renovate the old cable car system.
