Georgia’s President Giorgi Margvelashvili has expressed his sadness over the death of prominent Belarusian journalist and Kremlin critic Pavel Sheremet.
Sheremet was killed in a car bomb explosion in the Ukrainian capital Kiev today.
"It was with deep regret that I learnt of the tragic death of journalist Pavel Sheremet,” Margvelashvili said.
"I personally know Pavel - always an interesting companion and clever person.”
"His death is a great loss for international journalism.”
Sheremet, 44, hosted a morning news show on Radio Vesti and reported for Ukrayinska Pravda, a popular news website.
The bomb went off as Sheremet was driving a car belonging to his partner, the website's owner Olena Prytula, BBC reported.
Sheremet had lived in Kiev for five years, after quitting Russian TV because of alleged Kremlin pressure.
