4.8 magnitude earthquake hits Georgia, 59km from Tbilisi

A 4.8 magnitude earthquake has stuck Georgia today.
The earthquake hit Georgia’s south-west at 2:14pm local time, with its epicentre 59km away from capital Tbilisi.
The nearest dwellings in Mamishlari Village was located three kilometres from the epicenter of the earthquake. The closest town, Dmanisi, was locaed 14 kilometres away.
No victims or damage have been reported.
Information about the earthquake was published by the Seismic Monitoring Centre of Ilia State University, which is the only national institution that collects data on earthquakes.
Official details from the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia said the 3.4 magnitude earthquake was recorded six kilometres from Vardzia at 3:56pm.
Georgia has expressed its solidarity with the victims following the heavy earthquake in central Greece. 'Our thoughts are with all the people of Greece affected by the heavy earthquake', the Georgian Foreign Ministry has tweeted.
