Two officials from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) are in Georgia on a fact-finding mission to the country.
PACE Co-rapporteurs Boriss Cilevics of Latvia and Kerstin Lundgren of Sweden arrived in Georgia early today and will stay in the country until May 6.
The duo are tasked to "monitor Georgia’s obligations and commitments”, read a statement on the official PACE website.
While in Georgia the PACE representatives are due to meet Georgia’s President, Prime Minister, Speaker of Parliament and a number of ministers, as well as the heads of the Constitutional and Supreme Courts, the Public Defender and the chairperson of the Central Election Commission.
Talks were also scheduled with the Georgian delegation to PACE, representatives of different political parties and factions in Parliament, diplomats and non-governmental organisations.
