Leading American hospitality company Marriott International will open its third hotel under the flagship Marriot Hotels brand in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi by 2017.
The new hotel will be under the chain of Marriot’s newest brand Moxy, which focuses on the rapidly growing three-star-tier market by offering a combination of top service, smart design and affordable prices.
By opening a Moxy Hotel in Tbilisi, Georgia will become the first Eastern European country to welcome a new affordable but chic hotel brand to the region.
The Moxy Hotel will be opened in 2017.
The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), the US government’s development finance institution, will help Georgia implement the $25 million USD project.
Meanwhile GMT Group, the leading private sector investor in Georgia and owner/developer of the five-star Tbilisi Marriott Hotel, will also be a developer of the Moxy Hotel.

Tbilisi Marriott Hotel, a premier luxury and business hotel in Georgia, has been operating in Tbilisi since early 2002.
Another Marriot Hotel in Tbilisi - Courtyard by Marriott Tbilisi – was awarded with a top industry award at the 2012 World Travel Awards. The awards, voted for by travel professionals and consumers worldwide, showcased and rewarded excellence in all areas of the travel and tourism industry.
Meanwhile the new Moxy Hotel will boast 130 rooms and be located at Saarbrucken Square, formerly known as Vorontsov Square, a historical place for the old city.
The new hotel will feature two iconic buildings that are landscaped around four outdoor pools, including one infinity-edged pool, luxury tropical gardens and a grand seafront lawn.
