Georgian ballet dancers succeed in global competition

Georgian ballerina Ekaterine Surmava and her partner Fedulov Philip won first prize at the prestigious dance competition in Italy.

A handful of Georgian ballet dancers gained top honours and top prizes after competing in a prestigious international dancing competition in Italy.

Ekaterine Surmava and her partner Fedulov Philip won first prize for the Best Duet and Pas de Deux at the Domenico Modugno International Ballet and Contemporary Dance Competition, held from March 25-29 in Bari, Italy.

Another Georgian dancing pair from Vakhtang Chabukiani Choreographic School took second and third place in the Solo Performance section of the competition.

Futhermore, young dancers Nino Khakhutashvili and Salomea Leverashvili were awarded second and third place prizes in the Senior Classical section of the competition.

Following these awards, the Georgian artists received an invitation to participate in the gala concert in Japan.
