Georgia’s Foreign Minister Tamar Beruchashvili will deliver a speech at the 28th United Nations (UN) Human Rights Council session opening in Geneva today.

Within the framework of the upcoming session, Beruchashvili is expected to focus on Georgia’s human rights reforms, as well as the difficult conditions of people living in Georgia’s Russian-occupied regions.

"She will also speak about the illegitimate actions of the Russian Federation,” the Foreign Ministry’s press office said.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will also be in Geneva. He is expected to speak at the opening of the event, which will continue from March 2-27.

The Georgia side will participate in four days of session activities before returning home later in the week.

Part of Beruchashvili’s duties abroad involved speaking at a conference on Disarmament in Switzerland on March 3, the press office said.

Beruchashvili is also scheduled to hold high-level meetings with world leaders in the framework of the UN session.

The 28th UN Human Rights Council session will be held in Geneva on March 2-27. The UN Human Rights Council is an inter-governmental body made up of 47 states responsible for protection of human rights across the globe.
