Georgia’s President meets European Council high official

The European Council official said Georgia had enjoyed successful cooperation with the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities.

President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili has met a top official from the European Council at a special meeting in Georgia’s capital.

Earlier today Margvelashvili sat down with President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the European Council Jean Claude Francois.

The sides discussed regional governance issues and talked about the decentralisation and local government reform agenda.

The two officials also discussed the guide ‘Local and Regional Democracy in Georgia’, which defines the main directions of relations with Georgia in the post-monitoring regime.

Francois said Georgia had enjoyed successful cooperation with the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities.

At the end of the meeting Margvelashvili and Francois discussed the situation in Georgia’s occupied territories.
