Georgia’s relations with Austria is about to enter a new phase, says Georgia’s Foreign Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili.

Today Kvirikashvili hosted Ambassador of Austria to Georgia, Axel Wech in Tbilisi.

Bilateral relations in political, cultural and economic directions were high on the agenda of today’s meeting.

Wech travelled from his base in Baku, Azerbaijan to meet his Georgian host, as there is no official Austrian Embassy currently in Georgia.

On this issue, Kvirikashvili said a new Austrian Embassy to Georgia would open next year, and this would allow Georgia-Austrian relations to become more intense and fruitful, especially in the economic aspect.

Kvirikashvili thanked Ambassador Wech for Austria’s continual support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In return, Wech said Georgia’s strengthening economy was appealing to Austrian investors, and as such, growing numbers of Austrian investors were interested in learning more about Georgia’s business and investment climate.
