EU envoy: Georgia is leader in implementing public administration reforms

"Georgia is really a leader and a leading actor in terms of carrying out reforms in public administration”.

These words were spoken by head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Georgia Janos Herman as he delivered a speech at the conference Local Self-Governance – Best Practice 2015 today.

Herman said empowering local self-governments was the EU’s top priority and Georgia had taken positive steps in this direction in the recent years.

The EU Ambassador praised the system decentralisation and said the EU appreciated collaboration with the Georgian Government in the field of administrative framework of Georgia.

He added the EU would provide €43 million, which would focus on giving more power and influence to local municipalities in Georgia so that they would be allowed to make decisions on their own.
