Georgia is ready to increase its contribution to global peace, says Defence Minister Tinatin Khidasheli.
Khidasheli met the United Nations (UN) Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations Herve Ladsous at the UN headquarters in New York City yesterday. The pair discussed Georgia’s participation in international peacekeeping missions.
Khidasheli said Georgia had taken responsibilities in front of the world and the country was ready to further intensify its contribution to global peace.
"We have very experienced militants, not only Generals but Colonels too and our support could become even more valuable for those armed forces who are participating in UN missions in different countries,” said the Georgian Defence Minister.
She noted Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili had made "concrete promises” at the UN Summit in September and now Georgia was starting to "take action” to fulfil those promises.
