EU top representative visits Georgia next week

Federica Mogherini, European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission, will visit Georgia next week.

The visit was announced on the EU webpage today. 

The EU said Mogherini would come to Georgia after completing her November 9 visit to Ukraine. She was due to be in Georgia on Tuesday, November 10.

While in Georgia the EU top official was expected to meet President Giorgi Margvelashvili, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, Foreign Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Parliament Speaker David Usupashvili, leaders of the Parliamentary factions and civil society representatives.

Mogherini will also speak at the international high-level conference Achieving Gender Equality in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi. After this she would pay a field visit with the EU Monitoring Mission Georgia to the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL) that separates Georgia’s breakaway Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region and the rest of the country.
