The United States (US) Embassy in Tbilisi says it is unacceptable for anyone to advocate for violence in politics.

The Embassy issued a statement about the recently released audio recordings that encouraged an alleged coup in Georgia.

"While we cannot authenticate recent intercepted conversations, we believe it is unacceptable for anyone to advocate for violence in politics. Such assertions have no place in a democratic society,” the statement read.
"We applaud statements from the Prime Minister, as well as from opposition leaders, calling for calm and restraint. While these statements are important, what is needed is dialogue, and a widening, not a restricting, of the political and media space.”

On another note, British Ambassador to Georgia Alexandra Hall Hall also condemned the content of the leaked phone conversations and said it was unacceptable to encourage violence.

She said Georgia stood on the right track towards progress and democracy and believed there was no room for violence in the country.
