Georgian filmmaker Salome Jashi is among the judges at the ongoing Leipzig International Festival for Documentary and Animated Film in Germany that has enjoyed packed audiences since its opening on Monday.
The Georgian judge was selected alongside Hungarian film director Diana Groó and American animation director David Silverman to comprise the jury for the Festival’s International Competition Short section.
The short film section was among nine categories at the event aimed to showcase some of the best documentary and animated productions from around the world including Russia, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Canada and South Korea.
I was honoured to be in the jury with these two fantastic people - Hungarian filmmaker Diana Groó and the producer and animator of The Simpsons David Silverman,” Jashi said while speaking about her selection for the jury.

Jashi graduated from the Caucasian School of Journalism and Media in 2003 before working in broadcast journalism. She studied documentary filmmaking at the Royal Holloway, University of London.
Founder of the Georgia-based Sakdoc Film documentary production company, Jashi was also on the jury at the 2007 Norwegian Short Film Festival.
In recent years the Georgian filmmaker directed a number of productions including the Georgian-German co-production Bakhmaro in 2011.
The Leipzig International Festival for Documentary and Animated Film will conclude on November 1.
