Georgia’s Foreign Minister Tamar Beruchashvili is continuing her first working visit to the United States (US).
Within the framework of her official visit, Beruchashvili has met chairman of the Atlantic Council Board of Directors Jon Huntsman.
The pair discussed a broad spectrum of relations, including Georgia-EU strategic partnership, the existing threats in the region, Georgia's vision of the ways to overcome these threats and the international community's role in this process.
Georgia’s Beruchashvili emphasized the experience of US leading non-governmental organisations and think-tanks in the development process of the country.
Earlier the Georgian Foreign Minister met president of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) Carl Gershman.
The pair discussed the challenges Georgia currently faced in foreign and home policy and various issues of bilateral cooperation and mapped out plans for intensification of dialogue and for development of a concrete agenda.
Meanwhile the Georgian Minister took part in round-table discussions held at the US Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) on February 2.
Beruchashvili delivered a speech about the progress Georgia had recently achieved in terms of integration with the European Union and NATO.
The event was hosted by the Centre's president John Hamre. The round-table discussions were also attended by experts of leading Washington NGOs.
In her speech Beruchashvili focused on the challenges Europe faced and the current situations in Ukraine.
The Georgian Minister started her US visit on January 29. She is expected to return to Georgia on February 4.
