Georgia’s national rugby team has lost to Argentina in their second Pool C game tonight within the Rugby World Cup 2015.
Tonight’s match ended in a 54-9 victory for the South American side.
The first half of the game was evenly matched and the score going into half-time was 14-9, with Georgia trailing by five points.
But shortly after the return to the pitch Georgia’s best player, their number eight and skipper Mamuka Gorgodze was shown a yellow card for slowing down the ball in the ruck.
The Puma’s took advantage of having a one-man advantage and scored three tries in six minutes, breaking Georgia’s spirit.
This was particularly hard to watch for Georgian fans as the nation was on a high after the Lelo’s beat Tonga in their opening Pool C game six days earlier.
Tonight’s victory saw Argentina climb off the bottom of Pool C into second place, one spot above Georgia.
Looking ahead the Lelo’s will play their next match against current world champions New Zealand on October 2 followed by the game against Namibia on October 7.
