Poland is standing by Georgia as it continues its quest to gain a Membership Action Plan (MAP) from the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) by helping the country develop its military capabilities.
Today the Polish side stated it was ready to lead the Military Police Capabilities Development Direction, outlined in the NATO-Georgia Substantial Package that envisaged improving the functions and capabilities of Georgia’s military police.
The positive news came after a meeting between Georgia’s Defence Minister Tinatin Khidasheli with Poland’s Minister of National Defence Tomasz Siemoniak today.
This was one of several ways Poland will support Georgia, Siemoniak added.
He stressed Poland would help Georgia develop the capabilities of the Georgian Armed Forces and provide additional support for Georgian military servicemen regarding English language training courses.
This will increase the interoperability of the Georgian Armed Forces with NATO,” stated Georgia’s Defence Ministry today.
Georgia’s Defence Minister started a 10-day tour to Europe yesterday to attract international support for the country ahead of the Warsaw NATO Summit, at which Georgia wanted to be offered a MAP.
