Georgia has sent a special message to Ukraine to celebrate the country’s Independence Day.
Each year Ukraine celebrates its independence on August 24, in commemoration of its signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1991.
To mark the occasion Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili sent a congratulatory message to the country’s President, Prime Minister and all the people of Ukraine.
In the letter PM Garibashvili said he hoped for "deeper cooperation based on friendship” between Ukraine and Georgia and stressed Georgia would always be an active supporter of Ukraine.
Only through sincere partnership and collaboration we will be able to overcome obstacles and pave the way to the European space and our countries’ advancement.”
I want to once again confirm Georgia’s permanent support for Ukraine and reveal my respect and congratulations for the most significant date,” said Garibashvili.
Congratulatory cards were sent to Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
The Act of Declaration of Independence of Ukraine was adopted by the Ukrainian parliament on August 24, 1991; this established Ukraine as an independent state.
