Georgia’s exports reach $1,269m in seven months of 2015

The first seven months of the year has seen the value of Georgia’s exports and imports (External Merchandise Trade) experience a slight downward trend year-on-year (y/y), claims the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

From January-July 2015, Georgia’s External Merchandise Trade (excluding non-organised trade) amounted to $5,573 million USD, stated Geostat preliminary data. This was a 14 percent drop when compared to the same figures of 2014.

The value of the country’s exports decreased by 24 percent, reaching $1,269 million USD, while imports decreased by 11 percent and amounted to $4,305 million USD in comparison to the January-July period of the previous year.

Geostat said the trade deficit equalled $3,036 million USD and its share in trade turnover was 54 percent.

Geostat noted more detailed data on External Merchandise Trade of Georgia will be published on August 21, 2015.
