"I am confident that we will witness a great Olympic Games and it will be exciting for all of us", says Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.
The Georgian official spent the day today examining the infrastructure for the 2015 European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF), due to be held in Tbilisi next month.
Prime Minister Garibashvili spontaneously decided to visit the construction sites after meeting members of the Olympic organizing committee.
Garibashvili visited the Olympic village and was introduced to the new sporting facilities built for next month's festival, such as an athletics hall, gymnastics arena, swimming pools and volleyball arena.
The Georgian PM stressed the significance of honorably hosting the event, which was of international importance.
"This is a great challenge for our country and a huge privilege at the same time. Construction works are almost finished and the facilities are being cleaned. We are waiting for the Olympics and for many guests. Tbilisi will be very crowded at the end of July,” he said.
"After the Olympics are finished, two weeks later we will host the UEFA Super Cup final, which is also a great opportunity to attract many tourists and visitors to Tbilisi,” Garibashvili noted.
The construction works on the European Youth Olympic facilities will be finished in two weeks.
The 13th EYOF will open in Tbilisi on July 26 and continue until August 1.
