Experts clearing flood debris have uncovered two cars from within the 900 metre tunnel at the mouth of the Mtkvari and Vere rivers in central Tbilisi.
The cars were swept away by flood water during the June 13 devastating flash flood in the Georgian capital city.
Rescue officers from the Emergency Situations Management Agency carried out the search works in the tunnel yesterday.
"Despite difficult work conditions, the 900m long tunnel was thoroughly checked. At the same time rescuers conducted search works for the missing people,” Georgia’s Interior Ministry said in a statement.
No missing people were found in the past 24 hours search efforts. As of today, three people remained missing.
As for zoo animals, one tiger and one striped hyena were still unaccounted for.
"We call on the public to exercise extreme caution and call 112 if needed,” the country’s Emergency Management Team said.
Meanwhile about 2,000 people who volunteered to clean Tbilisi streets after the deadly flood received tetanus shots after the Health Minister advised volunteers to be vaccinated to exclude the risk of being infected with the dangerous bacteria.
