Georgia and China are intensifying their trade and economic relations.

With this goal in mind, a Chinese delegation has come to Georgia. Leading the group is Chen Changzhi, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China’s top legislative body.

Today Changzhi was hosted by Georgia’s President Giorgi Margvelashvili. The parties stressed the importance of the Silk Road project and discussed the growing cultural and economic relations between Georgia and China.

Margvelashvili thanked Changzhi - the highest ranking Chinese legislator to have visited Georgia, for his country’s support towards Georgia’s territorial integrity.

The Chinese delegation, who will stay here for three days, will also meet Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Parliament Speaker David Usupashvili during their visit.

Head of the Georgian Parliamentary majority Davit Saganelidze said this was a "visit of a great importance”, as China was Georgia’s third largest trade partner and there was the potential for China to invest billions of dollars in Georgia.
