Tbilisi State Puppet Theatre has gained international recognition at an international puppet theatre festival in Armenia.
Tbilisi State Puppet Theatre was awarded the Grand Prix at the Unima International Festival of Puppet Theatres in Yerevan yesterday.
The Festival aimed to promote peace and intercultural dialogue with countries around the world and was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of UNESCO.
The Georgian theatre troupe performed famous national children’s story What a Lullaby Did, later picked as the most emotional and innovative performance of the event.
After the performance with ordinary spectators, representatives of various puppet theatres participating in the festival could not hold back their tears and offered their congratulations. At the end of the show our puppet theatre received the Grand Prize and a diploma,” read a statement of Tbilisi State Puppet Theatre.
Indeed, who can talk about peace and universal goodness better than puppets?" said the Georgian troupe.
The performers have already left Armenia with their award and new-found success.
