Georgia’s education system is failing and is ranked last place of all European nations, says Georgia’s Prime Minister.
The country’s leader made the strong comments while speaking on a Public Broadcaster talk-show last night.
The PM highlighted the issues facing Georgia’s education system and said the issue was "fatal”.
"When we came into Government, not a single field was left without damage. This is our tragedy and our great pain.
"I would say, we have problems everywhere – we mentioned culture, education. In education we have a very bad, fatal situation,” Garibashvili said.
"We were and are still ranked in the last place in Europe by the level of education, while the previous government was saying we had the best education system, best educational programs. But in reality we were left with a destroyed education system and educational programs in severe condition. A lot has to be overlooked and done in this particular sphere and we work very hard in this direction,” he added.
Garibashvili noted school programs should be reviewed and also said the Government had started work on the development of vocational education facilities.
