NATO's National Reserve Forces Committee has offered its assistance to Georgian Armed Forces as it implements a reform outlined in a Ministry of Defence document.
The Committee will assist Georgia review and assess the reserve and mobilization system transformation concept.
The concept was mentioned in the Minister's Vision 2013-2014 document where the Ministry’s priorities and direction of the Georgian Armed Forces were noted.
The reserve and mobilization system concept was said to be developed to support operational requirements, including a thorough review and analysis of lessons learned.
In France today the Georgian delegation presented a report outlining the key aspects of the concept transformation at the NATO National Reserve Forces Committee Staff Officers assembly.
After the assembly meeting, representatives of member countries decided to provide Georgia with expert assistance to development the project concept.
The US, Germany, France, Canada, Australia, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark and Poland will present the concept assessment and recommendations at the 2014 summer meeting.
Moreover, Georgia’s initiative on holding the 2015 autumn committee in Tbilisi is currently under discussion.
Georgia became an observer of the NATO National Reserve Forces Committee on November 7, 2013. Other observer member countries are Australia, Sweden, Austria and South Korea. NATO's National Reserve Forces Committee is directly supervised by NATO Military Committee and remains to be main coordinating structure in reserve issues.
