Georgian artist behind popular strangers’ ‘first kiss’ video on Youtube

The intimate and awkward moment 20 strangers kiss for the first time has been caught on film, and spread across the digital world.

A Georgian-born artist is behind the video that shows a group of 20 strangers lock lips for the first time.

The three and a half minute segment, directed by Tatia Pilieva, has been one of the most trending topics on social networks over the past 48 hours.

On Twitter, Pilieva describes herself as "a filmmaker, living in Los Angeles. I grew up in Georgia, Country not the State”.

The video, titled "First Kiss” was uploaded to Youtube on March 10. Two days later, the video has been watched more than 24 million time and shared by people all over the world.

The video mainly gained positive reviews although some said the video was "awkward” and "disgusting”.

The audience might not be aware the video has is also about fashion. Instead of staging a traditional Fashion Week presentation, the video was published as a part of Style.com's video fashion week and most of the people on camera are professional models, Wren's founder and creative director Melissa Coker told the Fashionista website.

The black and white short film shows people in their most vulnerable state. There is awkward banter, nervous laughter and hesitation but the end result is outstanding.

One viewer said: "It’s one of those videos that you can’t tear your eyes away from, not even for a second.”
