President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili has visited Georgia's famous wine-making city Kvareli, in the Kakheti region, to celebrate international recognition of the ancient art of traditional wine-making.

The President attended a ceremony to mark the traditional Georgian method of making qvevri wine being approved by UNESCO to be included in the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The decision was made by the eighth inter-governmental committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in Baku last December.

Margvelashvili believed today, Georgia celebrated the efforts the country had contributed across the world.

"We are proud of being at the edge of entering the Europe and augment the world civilization,” Margvelashvili said.

The wine event was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Vinery Khareba, a wine production company.

The wine complex "Tunnel” was used as the venue for the event.
