Georgian villages will soon undergo a vital upgrade thanks to a 50 million GEL boost from the state.

The Georgian Government approved the Village Support Project at today’s governmental meeting.

Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Davit Narmania, said within the project, a number of infrastructural plans will be financed in all of Georgia’s districts.

"Our Ministry’s employees are now in different municipalities and training the local Governors to administrate the projects correctly,” Narmania said.

Once this was completed, village meetings are expected to be held in an attempt to collect information from the public about what infrastructural problems are needed to be solved in their villages.

Narmania called on those living in Georgian villages to actively participate in the meetings and make their voices heard.

He also asked non-governmental organisations and other interested people to get involved in the monitoring process to make sure the program is implemented as planned.
