2014 was a year full of achievements and challenges but now it is time to look ahead to 2015, says Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.

The head of the Georgian Government summed up the achievements and challenges of the current year and announced next year’s action plans at a special event last night in Tbilisi.

The PM and his wife invited diplomatic corps, representatives of international organisations and Georgian politicians to the festive event where he spoke about his Government’s plans for 2015.

Garibashvili emphasized that he would be happy if his team could make every day better than the previous one for the Georgian people.

Sometimes we make mistakes but in the most part if our Government is successful, Georgia will become a better country than it already is. If we look back on 2014, this year was more or less positive for the lives of Georgian people. We did our best in difficult circumstances, the Prime Minister said.

Garibashvili made special mention of the achievements of his Government since Georgian Dream came into power.

In 2014 we signed the Association Agreement with the European Union, improved access to health care and education for our population. We are working to establish the rule of law and sustainable democratic institutions and we have increased exports and attracted more investment than in previous years, he said.

In his speech, PM Garibashvili highlighted that 2015 will be a "working year”.

2015 will be the first year without elections after I [became Prime Minister]. For many of you this will be a great relief. I am glad that next year those who participated in international election observation missions can rest, Garibashvili said.

Garibashvili also addressed attending diplomat corps and international organisations working in Georgia.

Personally, I consider all of you as members of my family. You are not just friends of mine but friends of the Georgian nation. Georgia wishes to be friends with all countries around the globe. We are planning to work with you on various projects next year. Today, on behalf of all Georgians I once again thank you for your friendship.

At the end of the evening, Garibashvili presented memorable gifts to the international guests. He gifted them paintings by Georgian artists that showed different regions of Georgia.
