Former Defence Minister confirms coup attempt

Georgia’s former Defence Minister Davit Sikharulidze appraised the controversial video with these words.
The video was leaked on the internet last night showing the ex-minister of Internal Affairs Vano Merabishvili order armed forces to bring him "two dead bodies”.
Multiple sources claim the video was shot during the so-called "Mukhrovani Case”. During this time, Sikharulidze was the country’s Defence Minister.
"It was impossible to enter the military base then. Special Forces guarded the perimeter,” Sikharulidze said.
"Neither me, nor other high officials from the Ministry of Defence were allowed to enter. It was a coup indeed. I cannot remember if the rebels had any clear conditions. The major aim for the authorities was to avoid the crisis regress.”
Sikharulidze did not appear in the video footage.
"Those three men who were ordered to kill us in the vehicle have received 12,000 GEL for our heads,” said a high officials who were charged in the Mukhrovani incident.
Scandalous video has been leaked online revealing details of a special operation led by the former government in May, 2009.
Merabishvili: "I need two men, two dead bodies, bring the two dead bodies to me, that’s it! The bonus will be high."
