Several people have died in a tragic car accident in Baku, including a 10-year-old Georgian child.
The accident happened last night after a bus smashed into a truck as it travelled from Baku, Azerbaijan, to Marneuli, Georgia.
Moments after the impact the truck caught alight and burst into flames.
Three people died in the crash and six others were transferred to hospital for further treatment, including the bus driver.
While the cause of the crash has not been confirmed, preliminary reports stated the bus driver fell asleep and crossed the centre line.
Police have begun a thorough investigation into the crash.
One of the people who died in the crash was a 10 year old Georgian child, while the other two were Azerbaijani citizens.
Information released by Georgian consul in Ganja, Mamuka Balavadze stated all five passengers who were tansferred to an Azerbaijan hospital were Georgian citizens.
The bus driver was also taken to hospital. Doctors said he was in the Intensive Care Department but his life was not in danger.
Meanwhile the remaining injured passengers were given first aid at the scene.
"The Consulate is doing everything to help the passengers,” Balavadze said.
