Tbilisi hosts International Festival of Architecture

Tbilisi Art Palace won the best Reconstruction / Restoration at the Tbilisi International Festival of Architecture.

Professionals in the architecture and design industry and some of the country’s leading projects were recognised at the ninth Tbilisi International Competition ‘Architectural Prize – 2014’.

The annual competition was part of the third International Festival of Architecture and held in Tbilisi with support of STYLE journal, Georgian Association of Architects and Tbilisi Municipality on September 29 and 30.

Organisers said the festival aimed to promote the best architectural projects and honour the architects and designers who made a special contribution to the development of architecture.

Within the scope of the festival, the ‘Architectural Prize – 2014’ exhibition-competition was held at National Library of Parliament the exhibition hall, where more than 130 architects and designers from Georgia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Italy, Turkey and Hungary took part.

The competition was divided into nine categories and featured 170 pieces of work, which were individually assessed and evaluated by an international panel of 32 judges.

Architects and designers were awarded for the best projects in the spheres of urban planning, architecture and interior design.

Competition winners were awarded ‘Architectural Prize – 2014’ diplomas and gifts, established by project supporters or sponsors.
