The Education Ministry announced the state would fund up to 30 students to pursue their higher studies.

Veterans’ children can apply for a scholarship with the Ministry from now until October 20. Applicants will have to present a document that proved they were the child of a veteran.

The Ministry said together with the Department of Veterans Affairs, it would implement other initiatives that would give more support and protection to war veterans.

Following changes to the State Compensation and Academy Scholarship law, the Government earlier announced 500 GEL compensation would be granted monthly to the families of military victims who died while serving their country.

The compensation was donated to the families of ISAF mission military participants who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. The money also went to the families of soldiers who died while fighting for Georgia’s territorial integrity in May 1998 and in August 2008.
