Competition to fill GNCC vacancy started

President Giorgi Margvelahsvili has announced an open competition to fill a vacant Members position on the Georgian National Communication Commission.

Under the Georgian Law of Broadcasting, candidates should have faith and recognition in public, and hold a Masters (or equivalent to Masters) degree in public administration, business administration, law, electronic communications or journalism. A candidate also needs to have 10 years working experience, with at least three years in a management position.

The competition started on January 3 and it will be open for a month. In order to organize the competing process properly, the President Administration will create a special commission in accordance to the presidents order.

The Georgian National Communication Commission is entitled to announce the competition and auction for issuing licenses for radio broadcasting, TV broadcasting, as well as usage of numbering and frequency resources.

Only this Commission is empowered to issue, suspend or annul authorizations and licenses in the field of electronic communications and broadcasting.

The Commission consists of five members, who are appointed by the president for a six-year term.
