Tbilisi does not support or recognise the elections held on 14 September in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Ukraine, said Georgia’s Foreign Ministry (MFA).
"Georgia’s MFA condemns the annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and therefore does not recognize the so-called ‘local elections' in Crimea and Sevastopol held in gross violation of the norms of international law and the legislation of Ukraine,” said the MFA statement.
In the statement, released on September 15, Georgia reaffirmed its "strong support” for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders.
