Georgia is preparing to host several high-level meetings with two top European officials this week.
From September 9-11, a delegation from Austria will spend time in Georgia. The group will be led by the Austrian Federal Minister of Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs Sebastian Kurz.
The Austrian diplomat will hold meetings with Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs Maia Panjikidze and other representatives of the Georgian Government, said First Deputy Minister David Zalkaliani.
While in Georgia, the Austrian business delegation will take part in the Georgian-Austrian economic forum, which will be jointly opened by Kurz and Panjikidze on September 10.
Also this week, the Vatican’s Secretary for Relations with States (also known as the Vatican’s Foreign Minister) Archbishop Dominique Mamberti will arrive in Georgia. The Archbishop is scheduled to meet with members of Georgian Government and the Georgian Patriarch, Ilia II.
Archbishop Mamberti will also hold a meeting with the Foreign Ministry of Georgia on September 15.
Zalkaliani noted that this was the first visit official visit of the Secretary of the Vatican for Relations with States and said this would be "an important step towards strengthening Georgian-Vatican relations”.
