The European Union has reconfirmed its unwavering support towards Georgia’s territorial unity and its policy of non-recognition of breakaway regions.
This was the goal of today’s meeting between Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili and the EU special representative for South Caucasus, co-chair of the Geneva Discussions Philippe Lefort.
According to the President’s administration, Margvelashvili talked with Lefort about the situation in the occupied regions.
He said that one of the prerequisites of a peaceful resolution to the problem was the EU’s stable position.
"It is important for us to have the EU’s stable support and to precede the Geneva Discussions in accordance with these principles,” the President’s administration claimed, adding that the EU special representative once again confirmed all of these principles today.
