New chief for Georgia’s Military Police

Colonel Arsen Tsukhishvili has been appointed as the new leader of the Military Police Department of the Ministry of Defence.

Chief of General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces (GAF) Major-General Vakhtang Kapanadze introduced Colonel Tsukhishvili to Georgia’s Defence Minister Irakli Alasania today, September 1.

Colonel Tsukhishvili served as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the GAF from 2009 to 2013.

From January 2014 until now, Colonel Tsukhishvili worked in the Government Strategies Advisory Group.

Colonel Tsukhishvili has replaced Colonel Kakhaber Chikhradze in the top position.

Now, Colonel Chikhradze will assume the role of Deputy National Guard Commander. In this position he will work around the mobilisation and reserve system of the National Guard, said the Ministry of Defence in a statement.

Defence Minister Alasania and Major-General Kapanadze thanked the Colonel Tsukhishvili and Colonel Chikhradze for their service in the Ministry of Defence.
