The President of Georgia is expressing his condolences following the murder of Lithuanian member of Consul in Luhansk, Ukraine.

Lithuanian diplomat Mykola Zelenec was killed by pro-Russian rebels on August 22 in the rebel-held city of Luhansk in eastern Ukraine.

"I am shocked by the kidnapping and brutal murder of a Lithuanian honorary consul member by illegal arm forces in Luhansk,” read President Giorgi Margvelashvili’s statement.

"I want to underline that Georgia strictly condemns any kind of terror and struggles together with the whole progressive world against this most dangerous and antihuman phenomenon of the 21st Century.”

"Let me express my and Georgian nation’s deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mykola Zelenec”.
