President announces his property declaration

The President of Georgia has published his property declaration for the year 2013, which revealed he earned 23,590 GEL in income from January 1 to December 31.

President Giorgi Margvelashvili filled out his property declaration on August 7. The document stated he owned a 120sqm living space in Tbilisi and several pieces of land in Dusheti, including his 200sqm house.

The President also declared his father’s apartment in Tbilisi. In addition, Margvelashvili had 3,948 GEL in his salary bank account.

Last year Margvelashvili’s income was 27,590 GEL, out of which he received 21,938 GEL as Minister of Education and 5,653 for his role as President.

Last year Margvelashvili published his 2012 property declaration, which stated he had 21,496 GEL in various bank accounts.

His total income for the year 2012 amounted to 84,224 GEL. Of this money he received 51,517 salary as head of the Georgian Institute for Public Affairs, 2,500 GEL for his role as researcher at the Georgian Development Research Institute, 6,307 GEL for Education Minister and 1,400 GEL for participating in a TV project with Maestro Television.

In addition, in his 2012 declaration Margvelashvili noted he had received €20,000 (46,004.80 GEL) from the Munich University Clinic Grosshadern.

At the time Margvelashvili also indicated his parent’s pension and salary in his declaration.
