An aspiring Georgian swimmer has made a new record for swimming 100km consistently.
Rusudan Gordeziani successfully swam 100km non-stop freestyle without any means of support. She made the new record after swimming unaided for 40 hours along the Black Sea coast.
The 25-year-old started her swim near the Georgia-Turkey border at Sarpi at 7.30am yesterday and swam through the night before ending her swim at Ganmukhuri, close to Georgia’s breakaway region Abkhazia.
Gordeziani dedicated her marathon effort to the heroes who died in the Abkhazian war and 2008 Russia-Georgia war.
Gordeziani is a member of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Service Agency sports club MIA Force and currently holds last year’s women’s record of swimming non-stop for 24 hours in a pool.
