The hunt is on to find Tbilisi’s most beautiful verandas and balconies.
From ancient stone structures with flower-pot gardens to balconies with wrought iron twisting in decorative patterns – verandas in Tbilisi are unique and diverse – and a local company supported by Tbilisi City Hall - want to find the most attractive outdoor decks to showcase the city’s beauty.
A competition will be launched to find the city’s ten most beautiful and attractive verandas.
Apartment-style living in Georgia meant verandas were a common feature of many homes however many were neglected and uncared for. To remedy this, capital city dwellers are being encouraged to spruce up their balconies and present them in the competition.
Verandas from residential homes as well as commercial spaces will be evaluated according to seven criteria: the view, the service, cuisine, interior design, landscaping, architecture and the environment.
Participants must take a photo of their balcony and add it to a special Facebook page (Veranda 2014) and at the end of competition, the ten most attractive verandas will be revealed by a special jury.
The public will also be able to have their say on their favourite veranda.
The winners will have the opportunity to have their veranda showcased on Agenda.ge in the ‘In Pictures’ section.
Information detailing when the competition will end has not been released however people can find more information on the Facebook page.
