Georgia’s population is increasing and there are more women than men who live in the country, latest data reveals.
Official information released by theState Services Development Agencyrevealed there were more than 4.5 million people living in Georgia. This was 186,000 more than figures obtained in 2011.
Latest data revealed there were 4,665,000 citizens who currently resided in Georgia. Of this number, 52 percent are women and 48 percent are men.
Thelargest percentage of registeredpopulation(26 percent) live in Georgia’s capital city, Tbilisi. In total,1,223,319people call Tbilisi home. Of this number, 55 percent are women and 45 percent are men.
Three years ago Georgia’s population was significantly less. As of January 1, 2011,Georgia’s population reached4,479,000, saidGeorgia’s Statistic Department.
In addition,139,171Georgianare abroad, which was 0.6 percent of the total population, the Agency said.
