An international investment and development company is planning to open a local office in Georgia, as the company announces its intention to invest in numerous large-scale projects in the country.

The head of American-based Conti Group, Kurt Conti, today met with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and expressed his company’s desire to invest in various fields in Georgia.

It had already been agreed Conti Group will invest 100 million GEL to build a modern hospital in Georgia.

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Kvirikashvili also attended the meeting and noted Conti Group planned to participate in numerous large-scale infrastructural projects in Georgia, including the construction of Anaklia Port.

"The main reason of the meeting with the PM was to discuss [Conti Group’s] position to open a representative office in Georgia. They want to enter Georgia with large-scale investments,” he said.

"In the first stage [Conti Group] decided to establish an American hospital in Georgia and invest 100 million GEL in this direction. Four hundred people will be employed and this will be a hospital of international, American standards and built close to the airport. I think this is great,” Kvirikashvili said.

"In addition, they have shown interest in participating in the solid waste treatment project and other large-scale infrastructural projects, among which is the construction of Anaklia Port and more,” the Minister said.
