Lion mauls keeper at Tbilisi Circus

A lion has mauled a keeper at the Tbilisi Circus.

The 24-year-old man is in a critical condition in Intensive Care at the Tbilisi Central Republican Hospital.

The lion attacked the keeper last night when he entered the cage to clean it.

The circus administration said all safety measures had been taken. It was not the first time the man had entered the lions cage.

The keeper, a Ukrainian trouper, had been performing at the Tbilisi Circus since the beginning of January.
