A Russian military helicopter violated Georgian airspace when it crossed from South Ossetia, over the administrative border and few over villages in Gori and Kaspi districts.

Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) reported locals saw the helicopter fly over the area from 11am to 12pm today.

GPB said the illegal entrance had been confirmed by the Internal Ministry’s Analytic Department however the Governmental body has not officially confirmed this information yet.

All villages are located near the Russian occupation line on the border with South Ossetia. Representatives of the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia are already on location to investigate the incident.

This is not the first time Russian military aircraft illegally entered Georgian airspace in this location.

Two of Georgian regions, Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions, which make up 20 percent of Georgia’s total territory, are currently occupied by Russia.
