President Giorgi Margvelashvili is paying an official visit to Turkey.
In the Turkish capital, Ankara, Margvelashvili will meet his Turkish counterpart, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Turkish Grand National Assembly Chairman, Cemil Cicek, the Georgian president's administration said today, January 20.
During his two-day visit, Margvelashvili is expected to visit the mausoleum of the first President of Turkey Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, where a wreath laying ceremony will be held.
Margvelashvili will also meet with Georgian diaspora in Turkey.
When his official duties are completed, the Georgian President will visit Tao-Klarjeti, North-Eastern Turkey the birthplace of the medieval Georgian "Golden Era" that lasted from the tenth to the twelfth centuries.
The delegation also includes seven Georgian officials including the First Deputy Chairman of the Parliament Manana Kobakhihdze and the Secretary of the National Security Council Irina Imerlishvili.
Today, the President also announced he has joined Twitter.

This is the Georgian president's second visit abroad. Margvelashvilis first visit was to Vilnius, where he attended the EU summit last November.
